The British government has a generally friendly attitude towards electronic cigarettes. In 2014, the British Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) issued relevant regulations on e-cigarette advertising: allowing e-cigarette devices to appear in television advertising. Although the regulation has some restrictions on the content of advertisements, the whole policy aims to "prevent young non-smokers from becoming e-smokers", which does not essentially curb the development of the UK e-cigarette market.
Although the UK's e-cigarette policy is relatively relaxed, its use has not shown a soaring trend. With the support of the UK authorities for e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation tool, e-cigarettes are also mainly accepted as a way for adults to quit smoking. The electronic cigarette market is also gradually moving towards standardization, with detailed restrictions on product specifications, including cigarette cans, cigarette liquids, additives and nicotine content.
